Dress U

It's official - I'm attending Dress U in June! Finally got around to getting my membership last week, along with tickets to the Tiara & Jampange Party and the Titanic Dinner. I'm still pondering the tea...

I'm also teaching two classes:

Survival of the Fittest: fitting yourself by yourself
Don’t have a local sewing buddy to help you with fittings? Want beautifully fitted bodices but don’t have 4 arms or eyes in the back of your head? Learn basic principles for how to fit mock-ups and garments on yourself, with/without the aid of a dressmaker’s dummy in this demonstration class.

Taming the Stash
Is your sewing space a mess? Do you spend half your sewing time searching for misplaced supplies and patterns rather than sewing? Or are you a naturally organized person who loves hearing interesting ideas for keeping things tidy? This class will demonstrate budget-friendly, spacing-saving ways to organize & store your costuming research, fabric, trims, patterns & sewing gadgets.

Yay!

  1. Hi Jenny- Looks exciting. Congrats on your classes! Hope they are full to capacity. I am curious about this Dress U. I went to the website but could not find any concrete info about who the organizers are/what the purpose is/etc. Would this happen to be the East coast version of Costume College? Thanks!

  2. Umm, you are right, there isn't much of an explanation of the event or its origins on the site is there? Dress U is not in any way affiliated with Costume College but is certainly influenced by it and the desire of many East Coast costumers to have a fun weekend of costume related classes and social events in our neck of the woods.

The organizer is a friend of mine, Victoria Arrington. This is the first year so we will see how everything pans out but I'm very excited about the response so far and the possibilities of this event - it should be fun!
